Done and Done

Is it really possible? I can't believe it. My Christmas shopping is done.

I've double-checked the list, and holy shit, I am so indebted to Etsy, Abebooks and Amazon. My Better Half is supposed to look after his folks, but otherwise, I think we're in the clear.

Now I am left with this conundrum: Many of the books I ordered for my friends and family are books that I have been wanting to read myself. So now they sit in the Christmas basket, tempting me, and flapping their covers seductively. I can't really read a book I'm about to give as a gift... But am I allowed to peek a bit? As long as I don't break in the spine? Just to see if it's really all that? Please advise.

I finished my mini scarf because I ran out of wool. This is my second or third knitting project that will sit on the needles until I remember how to cast off. I'm a bit paranoid that the scarf will slip off the needles before I can finish it, but I guess it would serve me right. I should have taken notes in knitting class. No, wait... I should have taken a video! Mental note.

My brain seems to be under the weather this morning, because it keeps coughing up bad sentences. I'll quit while I'm ahead, and aim for something more exciting tomorrow. Maybe I'm just off my game because my feet haven't been numb or cold all week. What the hell am I supposed to write about now? My good health? Yawn.

You're a freak. It's not even December yet!

But I am a relaxed freak. Now I can focus on improving my cake consumption! I know you can appreciate that.... Right?

I most definitely can! You're a good kind of freak, that's for sure.

quick tip for preventing needle slippage- just take a wine cork (even one of the non-cork ones) and stick it on the end of the needle- works like a charm for me.

GASP!

How smart are YOU? And how convenient that I have over thirty champagne corks sitting in a bag on my floor.

Does sound bad? I kept them to make art. Really.

You can absolutely read the books as long as you don't let them get the "already-read" look... which could happen soooo easily - a drip, a small tear, a tiny crack in the spine. Well, if that happens, you'll just have to get another book to give and keep the old one. It's really a win win sort of thing.

Excellent. I'll be reading Steve Colbert tonight then.

Who needs to make a video of knitting class when there is... *drumroll* www.knittinghelp.com ? Go to the "View Videos" tab, it's all there.

And don't worry about it, you have no idea how many times my mother had to show me to cast on, cast off, increase, etc. Before it stuck. But that may have been because I would take years-long breaks between knitting projects.

Thank you for bringing Etsy into my life. I've been shopping all morning.

Errr...I mean ... I've been working very hard at my desk all morning, meeting all my deadlines! :)
