Fasting < Anemia

I had a slightly ridiculous start to the day.

My Better Half and I woke up and skipped breakfast, a very rare occurrence in this household, because I was supposed to go get my blood tested for a variety of deficiencies and other annoyances (no iron and no B12, still). I avoid blood tests because I get veeeery unpleasant if I have not eaten, which is exactly what you must do if you want to get you blood sucked out of you and screened etc. So far I tend to favour anemia over not eating for half a day. Stupid, yes, but that's what I do.

Anyway! We woke up and walked our chilly asses down to the clinic. I was impressed at our perseverance considering that it was obscenely cold outside. We get to the lab and line up. I reach into my bag for the note from my doctor. It is not there. In its place is a receipt for my tooth torture. I have taken the wrong medical-looking paper. Erg. We immediately start eating chocolate on account of having no breakfast. I am not impressed with myself, but my BH is very understanding. And very hungry.*

At any rate, we made up for it by making delicious vegan cupcakes for my roommate's birthday. Note the funny word on the cookie jar, due to a strategic splash of chocolate batter.

And for good measure, here are some pictures from our dinner last night with friends. My BH and I have noticed nearly all of our friends are engaged. I think one of my first posts to this blog was about all my friends getting hitched, but I really mean it this time. Everyone. Is. Getting. Married. This is both exciting and perplexing, but at least it justifies me getting a crapload of pretty new dresses. HAHAHA. TAKE THAT WEDDINGS.

*You might be wondering why my BH fasted with me if he is not having his blood tested. This is because he is very sweet, and slightly crazy. He also insists on waking up at 5:30 am with me every day, even if he doesn't need to be somewhere until noon. It's very endearing, except sometimes he falls asleep in funny places. Actually, that's endearing too.

I'll marry you. We share the same distaste for fasting-related medical tests. We'll move to the Gatineau Hills.
