Hardcover

Okay, kids.

The good news is that I will be spending all of next week sitting on a beach on the coast of Goa. Oh, and the food here is still great.

The bad news is that, back in Mumbai, I am getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Those handy Malaria pills that I thought would be a complete nuisance have turned out to be my best friend. An example? On my left arm, in between my elbow and my wrist, I have twelve bites.

More bad news? I can't sleep. I can't for the life of me get any sleep. I am always up until four in the morning listening to the city honk and smash and squeal, and then I crash sometime afterwards when the milkman or breadman or fishman comes calling. (Literally, the all come calling. Yelling. Screaming about their wares. And since nobody has glass windows, I hear every word.) Even when I force myself to spend the day with almost no sleep, my body won't go to bed at night. Upon doing the time conversion, I realized that my brain is putting me to bed at 8pm Canada time.

Bastard brain. It never did that when I was home.

In any case, this trip is turning out to be quite an adventure. Not restful, not relaxing, but certainly not dull. One thing I can't wait to get back to? My bed. So far, every pillow and mattress I've tried have been the softness and texture of my old history textbooks. The hardcover ones.

My dearest Better Half and I will be taking the train to Goa, so I should have lots of interesting pics from the ride. Oh yes, and I had a lovely birthday, thanks to those who sent along nice wishes. Apparently it's the custom here to smear your face with cake on your big day. Fuck man, I can't seem to win. I am going to the spa when I get home, and nobody's going to stop me.

Anyways, I miss you all and hope to update again soon!

You brave girl. Andi said it was something like 47 degrees! Holy Fuck! Wow...
Good to hear you're enjoying the trip. Ottawa will seem so lame when you return, and you might not want to go back to an Indian restaurant in Canada ever again... I imagine.
Like having real maple syrup after years of Aunt Jemimima.

Okay, one too many "mi" in Jemima... My bad. Maybe those racist fake syrup makers should not have named it after their black servants after all.

Hahaha... Jemimima. I like it.

Yeah, it's hot, but I will take it any day over -40! The BH hates the heat, of course. Go figure.

Moooo... bug bites and lack of sleep, I don't envy you. Good food, adventure, and the opportunity to laze on a beach? Lucky girl. We sure will be happy to have you both home though.
Miss you!

Take some drugs, make your body sleep. Sheez.
