La Petite Mort

Boooo, date night was postponed.

It wasn't a total waste though... My Better Half made a huge spelt apple and cranberry pie, and two enormous apple crisps for a dinner party that is happening tonight. I went downtown with my friend Rachel to La Petite Mort Gallery for their I LIKE TO ROCK exhibit. It celebrated 32 years of CKCU FM, where I used to have a radio show, by showing portraits of rock stars. The art was amazing, and I genuinely regretted not having enough money to buy something. So it goes.

For those of you that haven't been, La Petite Mort Gallery is a kick-ass place. Truly. The art is often unusual and provocative, and the studio space itself is brilliant. I wrote an article once about an event this gallery was having. It was called Holy Fuck III. I think that about says it all. I also saw Kids On TV perform there once, and although I came in at the end of the show, it was one of the most memorable performances I've been to. I like it when people rock out in their underwear and do handstands while they sing. (Although I've never tried it myself)

Afterwards, Rachel and I went out for cake and tea. Neither of us are supposed to have cake, but every now and then having so many eating restrictions causes a gal to say "meh" and dive right in. It was nice, if not a little hurty. I think the whole night made me resolve to spend more time with my friends; it's amazing how much time can pass between visits when you are busy as a bee. No more, I say. Besides, when I get a bulldog, I will need to walk him around the whole city to show him off. This will give both myself and the bulldog a good excuse for social time.

I thought I had a lot to do today, but it turns out that I only need to make a veggie dish for that party tonight. No problem! I could cook the day away.

Enjoy your (snowy) start to the weekend....

Haha... I always loved that french term. It means "orgasm" if I'm not mistaken. There's something disturbing and interesting about that all at once.

Yes, I quite like it too. Clever, clever gallery. I suppose it is a pretty sexy place...
