One Lonely Stitch

So I followed the knitting link graciously left by Marie-Adèle*, and I watched the video on casting off.

"Awesome!" said my brain. This is what I needed! It's visual, and I can pause and replay. I can't pause and replay my knitting teacher in the same way, because she would be greatly annoyed with me. I did everything I saw on the video, until the very end, when the video stopped and I still had one lonely stitch left. One loop sitting on my needle. But wait! The video doesn't explain this! What do I do with the last stitch? There's only one! Help!

Bummed out and tired of prodding at the mystery stitch, I crawled into bed and read some of my friends' Christmas presents. Ah, they are excellent gifts. (Patting myself on the back)

Tonight I have a chiropractic appointment, and I am excited to tell my Awesome Chiropractor that his therapy has finally worked its magic. My feet are not numb, and they are not freezing cold. They feel like real feet for the first time since last April. This makes me happy.

And besides, I'm out of money. So they had better be fixed, because otherwise I'll be fashioning orthodics out of expired credit cards.

*Who I've literally known since I was born, in case you were curious. Not that you'd randomly think: Gee, I wonder how long Andrea has known that blogger for? But in case you DID wonder that for some reason, now you know. We lived in Moose Factory together. Yes. I lived in a place called Moose Factory, and no, they do not manufacture mooses. As far as I can remember. I was two years old, after all.

Oh! I'm so excited about your newly re-discovered feet. And just in time for Christmas and New Year's dancing (be sure to wear sensible shoes)

All you have to do is cut a length of yarn (maybe about 6 inches), pull it through the hole (just like making a slipknot, really, and then weave that end in to the back of your knitting. Voila!
Congrats on learning to cast off!

UP: Are cowboy boots sensible? They are surprisingly comfortable, and they are so good for dancing...

Lesley: Hey, thanks! That's not so hard! Maybe I didn't fuck up after all...

Yes! Boots are it. (PS: is this turning into a knitting blog? Because it's starting to make me itchy)

Oh, heavens no. I only write about things when they are going wrong. Once I finish that last stitch, I'll have nothing more to complain about. So I'll be forced to move on. So it goes.

I can use some sort of cotton blend, though, if you are feeling allergic. Perhaps I could learn to knit a pair of boots?
