Fat, Naked and Dangerous

Those who know me well are familiar with my hatred of Valentine's Day.

It's not really that different from my hatred of other commercial holidays, except that I seem to hate Valentine's Day more. To me, showing my love for someone has nothing to do with giving them cheap chocolates, hideous stuffed toys or unimaginably expensive flowers. In fact, I think that would show my contempt for someone more than anything else. And really, if anyone were to be misguided enough to give me a diamond on Valentine's Day (or ever, come to think of it), I might box them right between the eyes.

I suppose that I could approach VD* the same way I approach Christmas, which is to spend a lot of time making thoughtful gifts, crafting, drinking and cooking. Except that I don't like the idea of designating ONE DAY PER YEAR for that kind of stuff. One life, maybe. Nope, try as I won't, VD and I don't get along. Thankfully, my Better Half feels the same way.

With that in mind, here is the site I use each year to send VD greetings. I encourage you all to have a peek. Now when I see little cupids, I think to myself: "Fat. Naked. And dangerous."

*Ha!

That site is a riot, I will be passing it on - thanks.

I hear ya on the extraneous gifts/sentiments - my all time favorite mid-Feb gift was part of a care package I got back in uni. My Dad sent me a bunch of pink paper clips, sticky notes and pens; it was so very him and me.

Haha... At least your dad sent you something useful! Better than a cheap bear, I suppose. :)

It was a pleasure to meet you last night.

You too! (Although, for reasons that may involve espionage, we never really met.)

Hopefully it won't prove to be our only plausibly deniable encounter. I saw something about upcoming gigs in a more recent post. What kind of music do you perform?

Whatever comes to mind... Something folky mixed with every other genre I can get my paws on, I suppose.

Where are the gigs, if you don't mind saying. I haven't seen any live music since the summer.
