Rehab

I slept for 14 hours.

I guess I needed it though, because I felt that distinct *feverish* feeling creeping in as I wrapped up my stuff at work. I crashed at 6pm, woke up at 10:30 to my sweetheart tip-toeing into the room, and woke up again at 8am.

And despite being a bit sniffly and sicky, I am so, so, so happy.

Why? Let me tell you! Oh, please!

1. I am going to India.

Okay, you know this. But there's more. Yesterday morning, at 6:30am to be exact, I walked out the door to catch my bus. I was hit with a wind so bitterly cold it gave me a headache within about three seconds (later I read that it was below 30). I slid through the snow drifts trying not to faceplant so early in the day.* Then I waited for the bus, which was customarily late.

Anyhow, when I finally reached my work, all creaky and grumbly, it hit me. I'm going to India, land of extreme heat and famous for its LACK OF SNOW. I will deal with winter, because hell, I have something to look forward to.

2. I am sick.

Normally this is not a good thing. But today, it means I get to stay home, drink tea, sleep, and listen to Amy Winehouse.** There is nothing better.

3. I am going on a little trip.

My Better Half and I have rented a car, and are heading out of town to see some friends. Sometimes it's hard to find the time for things like this... When you really have very little Plan and far more Whatever going on. But we've done it, and we're doing it. Two days of fun is better than two days of nada.

4. I have a new gig.

Maybe now I will force myself to learn me some new songs and practice me some banjo. What better time than a sick day?

*Faceplanting at any time is Bad, and Fiercely Wrong, because it is bound to Ruin Your Day. But having your day ruined at 10:30 at night is bearable, because you day is very nearly done. Faceplanting now? Very, very uncool.

**Amy, I love you. Your music is like opening the fridge to find a plate full of chocolate brownies that were baked JUST FOR ME. May I quote some of your lyrics? Please? Because they are BRILLIANT. Ahem: "They tried to make me go to rehab, and I said no, no no. Yes I've been black but when I come back no, no, no. I ain't got the time and my daddy thinks I'm fine." Ooooh, yeah. You know who else thinks you are fine? ME. May I quote one more line? Please? Okay. Ahem: "What kind of fuckery is this?" Oh, Amy. Indeed, exactly what kind of fuckery is this? I wish I knew.

Ummm...

Remember when I said I was no good at math? I am also no good at dates. The gig at the Avant Garde is on MARCH 3, not two weeks ago, as I had listed.

Thank you for your keen attention to detail and your fabulous robots.
