The Sick

Oh, I have caught The Sick. The sneezy, sore, puffy kind. Blast.

And of course, I am going on a little road trip this weekend, because these things always manage to coincide with feeling like ass. I am taking my mom, partly because my Better Half can't go, and partly because my mom is fabulous and knows how to party. It's OCFF, or the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals, so obviously there will be a party.

I have spent the last two weeks or so panicking about where I will stay once I'm there. The conference is in London, Ontario, and I have never set foot in the Forest City before. Somehow OCFF managed to sell out all the major downtown hotels, because folkies are crazy like that, and need whole hotel floors to party. I know that sounds like a joke, but it's not. Last time I went to OCFF, I stayed up stupidly late watching the concerts, but also watching somebody try to move a real piano from hotel room to hotel room. (Sometimes I wonder why I didn't point out that, hello, you're trying to move a piano from room to room. Maybe you should take up a stringed instrument? Or a keyboard?) Anyway, long story short, until this morning, I was going to be sleeping in the car with my mom. And then somehow, in a dialing frenzy, I located the only room in the only downtown hotel that was free. I will be sleeping in a cot on the floor, but boo-yah, I'm on my way. I've even made a list of veggie restaurants in the area so that I will not go hungry on my last weekend of Joshi's Crazy Detox.

I'm trying desperately to remember what I need to bring on Saturday but ugh, my head is warm and my throat hurts and I am tired. Surely some of these things can wait until tomorrow.

I think I should probably quit while I'm ahead here, and by ahead, I mean woefully nonsensical. My brain does badly on The Sick. It starts behaving like a lollipop on drugs, and let me tell you, that is mighty weird for a brain. Or a lollipop.

I may have to sleep through tomorrow.

Argh! NO! Damn Sick, wanting to sneak into the OCFF conference with you. What a bitch.

I hope you still have a BLAST. I plan to go next year in Ottawa. Be my date then?

London used to be a lovely, lovely place. I haven't been for a while, but the Zen Garden used to be good -- like Yuan in Montreal

Anyway, I'm going to wait until next year when it's in Ottawa, like Shawna. Are you guys dating exclusively or can I come with?

No, we always welcome others into our fold. We will all date. At once. At the folk conference.

I ate at the Zen Garden three times in two days! Good call!

Yum. I'm glad to hear it's still good. And we're on for the mass date. We can go to the Sacred Garden for supper first (in keeping with the garden eatery theme).
