Gee-Tar

Normally when the weekend comes to a close, I don't think too much about it. My weeks aren't terribly stressful lately, and the next weekend comes pretty quickly. It's a steady, comfortable pace.

This is starting to change. The more gigging and rehearsing that goes on, the more I cherish my weekends like the precious puppies they are. I have two gigs this week, on Friday and Saturday night, and they have snuck right up on me. I have a lot of preparation to pack into a few short days. E-mails, posters, practicing.

The gigs will be worth it, though. Friday I'll be at the Black Sheep Inn, sharing the stage with Lindsay Ferguson and Maggie Meyer. Lindsay and I have been wanting to split a gig for ages, so this has been a long time coming. Saturday will be a reunion of sorts, and I'll be opening for my old friend Shawna Caspi at her CD release party. I know a few of you blogger types have expressed an interest in seeing me play an early show in a laid back venue. Shawna's gig will be just that. It's at Rasputin's, where chocolate cake and apple cider reign supreme. Make sure you call and reserve for that one though... It's a wee place! And may I just say, Shawna's abilities on the gee-tar will make you melt in your seat.

Today was an odd sort of day. I rolled out of bed after a late night of birthday parties and greasy food, and chatted my way though a radio interview on CHON FM in Whitehorse. Why on earth would people in Whitehorse want to hear my chatting? CHON has kindly been playing my CD, and my old classmate has been hosting a Canadian music program at the station.

It all worked out swimmingly, although it made me realize that I am still much more comfortable doing the interviewing rather than being interviewed. It took all my strength not to say, "But enough about me, let's talk about you!" I think the journalist in me is still trying to claw its way out from under all this music promo. It's the same part of me that finds it kind of painful to talk myself up all the time. I know how to do it, but I would rather be reading. Even better, I'd like to hijack the mic and ask the interviewer a litany of questions. Even better than THAT, I'd like to strip down and roll around in chocolate.

But anyway. Music promo it is.

Interviews aside, this weekend has been all about muffins. I made another batch of XUP's pumpkin delicacies, and my Better Half made some very sexy mango, banana and walnut muffins. I cannot top his baking, but luckily I get to eat everything he makes.

I have no witty extro for this post. My brain is too tired and I am full of baked goods. I wish you all a pleasant night!

I endorse that show at Rasputin's on Saturday. It sounds like it's going to be FUCKING AWESOME.
