The Joy of Filing

My objective this week is to avoid getting sick. Considering that 80% of the folks at my workplace seem to have the flu, this will be a challenge. I am washing my hands obsessively. And I've got to quit these late nights. Seems like an awfully familiar pledge....

This organizational block I've had all winter was finally dealt a blow yesterday. I sat my ass down and started filing the insane amount of papers I've accumulated. I shredded the stuff I don't need, and categorized the stuff I do. Holy hell, paper piles up. But now, I have my taxes organized by year, my contracts all lined up, my receipts in order, and some vague details of my collective agreement all filed away happily in their own little folders.

If I can keep chipping away at my papers, one day I'll be able to tackle my ginormous music collection. No, I won't be slimming it down all that much... But I do plan on ditching the CDs I no longer/never listen to. I've always gotten heaps of promo CDs from my various places of work, but sometimes I can't listen to them all. And some of them aren't keepers anyway, unfortunately. I'll sell some and give away the rest. Does anyone know if any part of a CD is recyclable? Obviously the paper booklet, but what about the case and disc?

My office has a CD recycling program where the actual discs are collected. If you cannot find anywhere else that takes them, I can act as courier.

The CD jewel cases are actually really nasty, since they are made of vinyl - probably the most environmentally damaging plastic.

If they are good, I know a great place you can take them! It's a short walk from your house. It's called my house.

You need help from the Ottawa recycle guy. I'm sure he must have done a post sometime on CDs

Milan: Good to know... And boo to jewel cases! I'm glad alternative packaging is finally getting more popular.

LC: Hahaha. That gave me my first laugh of the day. You are welcome to take any CDs I'm getting rid of... Some of them may suck, but some are definitely good. I have over five hundred to sort through first though.

XUP: You are a fountain of bloggular knowledge! I will go have a read.
